INS Chilka Hosts Passing Out Parade of 02/25 Batch, Marking Completion of 16-Week Training

Chilka: The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 02/25 batch of trainees was held at INS Chilka on January 8, marking the successful culmination of 16 weeks of ab-initio training. The ceremonial parade, held post-sunset, celebrated the transformation of trainees into disciplined, resilient, and combat-ready naval personnel.

The batch comprised 2,172 trainees, including 2,103 Agniveers (113 women Agniveers), 270 SSR (Medical Assistants), 44 Sports Entry personnel, and 295 Naviks of the Indian Coast Guard.

Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, served as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer, while Commodore B Deepak Aneel, Commanding Officer, INS Chilka, was the Conducting Officer. The ceremony was attended by distinguished veterans, senior naval officers, sports personalities, dignitaries, and families of the trainees.

The parade showcased high standards of drill, discipline, and professionalism, with women Agniveers participating alongside their male counterparts, highlighting the Indian Navy’s commitment to gender inclusivity.

Addressing the parade, the FOC-in-C congratulated the trainees, emphasizing professional excellence, technological awareness, and adherence to the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage. He also acknowledged the role of parents and Team Chilka in shaping the future of India’s Navy.

  • Jatin Mishra – Gold Medal for Best Agniveer (MR)

  • Anita Yadav – Gen Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy for Best Woman Agniveer

  • Keshav Suryavanshi & Sonendra – Best Navik (GD) and Best Navik (DB)

During the Valedictory Function, Kharavela Division won the Overall Championship Trophy, with Ashok Division as runners-up. The event also marked the release of the second edition of Ankur 2025, INS Chilka’s bilingual trainees’ magazine highlighting the journey and experiences of Agniveers.
